What Worked
The buyer's internal legal team had two requirements before approving any hemp SKU: a full COA showing total THC per container, and a written H.R. 5371 compliance statement. We provided both as part of the initial sample package — the compliance statement was drafted against the specific November 12, 2026 enforcement date and referenced the 0.4 mg per-container cap in the language their legal team specified. The review cleared in 10 business days, which the buyer's VP of category management noted was faster than previous supplement-category legal reviews.
The two-SKU architecture was the buyer's merchandising team's idea, not ours — they wanted a "good-better" structure on the shelf. The 5 mg CBN isolate served as the entry-point SKU (lower retail price, familiar single-ingredient positioning).
